Research + effort = results Laughing

Havent caught a single fish on bait this year Wink  (eagle rays dont count :p) I think jigged species count is at 11?

One of a few amberjacks caught. Got one pulling a bit of string on PE2, but halfway through the fight line just went screaming and then came back with no jig, must of got sharked.

PE2

Mon, 2009-02-23 14:19

Why are you fishing PE2 out at the barges, you should be fishing PE5 min out there, makeing a fish fight for 1/2 an hour just builds up it's lactic acids and the fish takes too long to recoup, a big shark or other large fish would pick up on the stress the fish is putting out and come and eat it.

JMHO. I don't want to start anything here but light lines out there is just not good for the fish.

again JUST MY OPINION.

Fair enough point Brendan.

Fair enough point Brendan. We started off fishing PE5, which is what I got that amberjack on. Got several more a little smaller, and because we were getting consistent sizes, I thought PE2 would be a good match for some 5kg jobs (no indication of sharks at that stage). Hooked up to one, pulled a bit of string, then started getting him up, moved around the boat (fish was maybe 40m down), and as i got to the other side of the boat is when it got sharked. Didnt drop any more down after that.

The other sambo picture I have up, I was actually targetting demersals (got a few hookups but none landed).  There were small sambos around, up to maybe 7kg, but no indications of larger ones until I landed that one :p. Fight didnt take 30 min though.
