Caught this bugger on the old trusty whiting on a fish spike. First time ive been done in...gave the mrs a good laugh ! Im buying a landing net this arvo

That's why you need a squid
That's why you need a squid gaff like the one Brenz was talking about. You hook them in the arse with the head pointing away from you and pop it in the livewell or bucket before it squirt ink all over the boat hehehe.
I think the gaff was designed when you fish for squid off the rocks but what the heck it looks cool any way.

i am going to chase up Brenz on the gaff - but i look like that after a feed of spare ribs anyway.

There was a few around mate..they didnt like squidjigs, just the whiting on a fish spike, we got 3 in around 1 hour.

I had saved my sunnies from getting salt spray on them for hours..then they got covered in ink..thats what i was spewing about..but always wuth a smile on my face......reminded me of when we caught 2 tonne of squid on the trawlers..when the deckies droped them into the sorting trays...everone copped it!
