Fishing outside near Saddle Island of Walpole and had something big smash a white snapback. Started slowing it down, but must of went over the reef ledge and busted me off. That'll teach me leaving my bream leader on :s.

I had 8lb on, and after a big run, i'd managed to slow it and eventually stop it for a short time. But then it busted off :s. If I had something a little thicker than 8lb leader I probably would have landed it after a great fight though. Its still a bit of fun even if you dont land them though :p

Started out pretty nice, but the wind kicked up a bit. We anchored in the lee of one of the islands close to the mouth. Pretty much no swell around though, so pretty easy to get in and out of the rivermouth no problems.

Did you just head straight out in the very middle of the mouth?

Best to direct those q's at the skipper. Seemed a few sandbars to navigate while still in the estuary, but once you got out, it seemed easy going. We had low swell, so might be more hazards if the swells up a bit perhaps?

fishing on the east side of saddle island i wouldnt be using bream gear!!!, have caught heaps of sharks, to 40kg, blue groper to 15kg, snapper, dueys, and the likes. I have been busted off plenty of times even with 50lbs. Its not a hard mouth to navigate, just go slow picking your way through all the sand bars on the inside then stick to the right side of the channel on the way out, jsut take note if there is swells rolling in as they can break across the point.
I would rather be fishing
