Finally joined the metre club

Cracked my first metre plus barra a few weeks ago in the Kimberley casting a Classic Barra 120 3' up the end of a small creek. Put up a good fight but no jumps. She was a fat girl and unfortunatly we didn't have a camera or measure with us so the decision was made to keep her. She had no roe when we cleaned her and a empty stomach. Last one kept for me I reckon. My mate also got a 93cm casting a Classic 97 down near the mouth.

She's definitely a big girl. You know there good fish when the scales are the size of 50c coins.

Thanks fellas. She was 106cm long so cracked it good and proper. Plenty still in the freezer if you want me to bring some up Brody.

A doozy!

Tue, 2009-03-10 11:35

Tried all last Thursday at Ivanhoe Crossing and the Dunham but nary a one over 450mm. Great fun though with the only downside being the bottles, nappies and other garbage dumped all along the riverbanks and even at the freshwater swimming holes.

I was suprised how good the flesh was. I've cooked it up a number of different ways and all have come up great, not coarse at all. Still, wouldn't kill another one. Always gonna have the measure and camera nearby from now on.

C'mon, 20lb is sporting Adam. You can minus 4cm for it being a spin reel though.
