I reckon you might be right till. The forehead isn't as steep and until now I hadn't realised the relative brightness of the top of its tail.
We got him in 50m which again until now I thought was an unusual depth for a GT to be caught in (not that I really know any better), but this discussion now makes that fit more comfortably.
Will have to wait and see if someone can provide more direction.
What do you think about this one? We pulled it off the same spot.
Yeah I thought the forehead wasn't quite right, and the tail was bit colourful. They go like stink anyway, I got a golden that was 90cm to fork the other year and it seemed like a lot of work, and its probably only half the weight of a GT the same length.
Daz mentions tokara, they get the GTs in 100m out there IIRC.

Is that a GT or a brassy?
Is that a GT or a brassy? I'm not that good at telling them apart.
How deep was that caught in? You would want to get him up, off the botoom pretty fast!

fairly confident they're
fairly confident they're brassy trevs.
GT's can be caught in quite deep water. I've jigged quite a few in 100+ meters.
Tokara chain of islands produces some big models that hit surface offerings in some very deep water.

Yep definitely brassies. Quite common capture on jigs out in deep water off the Pilbara.
