Radiated heat?
I dunno Andy - I can't help wondering about the effect of radiated heat on those rods in a tin shed in summer in Perth heat, 40Degree C days...
Being up so close to the roof I mean...
Surely the temps inside up that close to the roof have to reach...70C or more?
You know - rod tips held on with hot glue?????
Monofilament - loosing it's Ju ju....
Reel seats glued in there...
Reels plastic internals parts (drags) etc 'fried' inside....
If it were me I think I'd have a sheet of that silver / blue sided insulation sarking, maybe a few pink batts or something under that roof as a ceiling, then put the rods up there?
Food for thought maybe?
You know, I once had a VERY expensive fly rod, lose the rod tip when I hooked a big tuna and the dry braid line backing (400+ yards) going out thru the 'metal' rod tip, friction heated it up enough for the metal tip to slide off as the glue melted!
Luckily I landed the fish and retrieved the tip ring down on the fly hook in it's mouth!
Gotta watch heat affecting things in fishing IMHO!

Fair call
I guess you are right about the heat issue. I intend to fix that with a sail cloth over the top of the shed so it overhangs and gives me some protection from the sun out the back where my fish cleaning bench is.
I've had this set up for about a year now and haven't noticed anything going astray with my gear. I usually wash my gear down after every trip and give them a liberal spay of inox. ButI suppose the internal gears is where the heat will possibly effect the grease etc.
I might investigate the false ceiling / insulation idea. Thanks for the heads up.
Unfortunately the only room left in my shed is just under the roof, so I can't see myself doing something different.
Cheers

I hear you!
Room can be a bit limiting in those sheds - just worried about all that expensive gear mate!
The other thing worries me, is some low life maybe "tracking down" where you live from your name / white pages etc and knowing which shed to hit the jackpot!
Can't be too carefull about security these days, as I am rapidly finding out!
All the same tis an impressive collection!
Cheers!

Let em try!
I can't say too much, but they might get a nasty shock if they tried to hit my place.

Short on...
I take it that if I host you on a beach expedition you will borrow my rods?? LOL.. No sign of heavy beach gear up there. And yes; FFS it must get very hot up there. My babies get the best possible cooled hide-away.
