Howdy Coiln, The flies can
Howdy Coiln, The flies can be bad there at times. Due to the usually dry conditions if you go after some rain the can be in plaugue preportions due to a large number hatching at the same time. They usually aren't that bad though. I remember fishing in a small very wind sheltered bay on one occasion and the flies were that bad we gave up fishing at that location and went elsewhere. Had black halos of flies around our heads, couldn't fish rig up or do anything without swallowing flies let alone the ones that treid to fly up your nose.
PS the shark net always had me wondering due to it being near the shore and the diving board being located right at the end of the jetty (go figure) - not that the netted area was deep enough to dive off.

Thanks Paul One time we were on our way to Cactus and
we hit a swarm of locusts which splattered on the car.
On arrival at Cactus we went for a walk to check out the surf and then when we went back to the car to get our boards we thought out car had been taken as where we had parked there was just this big black blob. It turned out it was the car, which was covered with flies attracted by the dead locusts and other splattered insects.
I also went fishing at that spot in your picture and did ok.

I remember there was a locust plague in the mid 90s,
We had em on our farm near Tumby Bay on the Eyre Peninsula like you wouldnt believe, oh and a mouse plague too, pretty sure the mice came a year or two before the locusts.....
