You can use a heavier weight than #5 if going deeper. Slower drifts are more ideal for the D/B rig. If the drift is too fast your better off reverting to patternoster rig or jig.
As Pete said, the results are good with this rig. A few pics from Ryans folder, these are when he started using driftbait squid in metro waters a while ago, he was very impressed with the result especially with dhu's.

Single hook!
If you want to use live squid then you can place a single hook in the top of the squid!

and Spess ial(random yes but the ones that get it will know)

When conditions are right down to 40m. Got a nice 15kg Dhuie first time I used this in 34m.
