Boat on Road

Saw this at the roundabout just around the corner from home yesterday.
Was a Haines Hunter. Hope it wasnt anyone from here.

Unsure

Still unsure what happened. Looked as if it fell off the back of the trailer when they took off. Didnt see them hook up a safety chain when they got it on. Looked like they just winched it on then tied a rope over the back to keep it down on the trailer.

Hard lesson

That has GOT to ruin your day.

Hard lesson - don't rely on just one bow loop securing point. (If that's what happened).

Hope it wasn't too badly damaged.

OUCH...That's gotta hurt

Would be suprised if the motor was in THAT position when it came off.
Bet it left a few skid marks & gouges in the road.
Bugger!!

not a nice sight!

Ouch alright, not a nice sight let alone that being your boat. I tow with my motor up, at a guess i'd say the clip has let go. A lot of the "S" clips are weak imo and a sudden take off can open them up.

I always upgrade the clip to a heavy duty bugger & use a S/S turnbuckle. That coupled with a safety chain should ensure that wont happen!

Ouch. That brings back

Ouch. That brings back memories.
I went partners with my orange hatted mate in 650 Haines Signature. The first time he took it out on his own he didnt put the safety chain back on and dropped the boat on the bitumen leaving Point Peron boat ramp.
