JUNIOR LANDBASED FISHING COMPETITION
Okay all you keen young Fishwrecked members, here is a competition for you.
Fishwrecked is putting up some great prizes for the winning entries in our new Landbased fishing competition for junior anglers.
Open to Fishwrecked members under the age of under 16, the competition will run through the month of November.
To be eligible for the prizes, junior members just need to produce a picture of a legal capture taken from the beach, rocks or marinas in the Perth metropolitan area.
A picture must be submitted showing the capturer with his fish at the beach, rocks or marina where the capture was made. Captures do not include sharks or rays.
First prize is a Make ProSpin Combo, featuring a 10 foot rod suitable for rock and beach fishing, with a matching spinning reel.
Second prize is a slightly used 10 foot Silstar Crystal Power Tip rod.
So come on all you young guys and girls, here is the opportunity to show us your fishing skills and to add to your fishing gear collections.

yes, it is a great opportunity for the younger members to participate and to hone their skills. It also gives them a chance to try and win some gear that will hopefully help them try some new styles of fishing that they aren't equipped for at the moment.

Yeah i know im going to use soft plastics if schoolies are on the bite, that will make for a good report :)
I just bought a medium sized soft plastic combo Daiwa crossfire 2500 with 15lb platil with 20-40lb cajun leader (or flurocarbon if i get some today) and Some assorted 3" to 5" Plastics such as the atomic Jerk minnows and other stickbaits.
Spent about 60$ on plastics including jig heads.

Judging by Sam's pics from the other day there are some great tailor around and there are reports of the odd salmon turning up - so we look forward to some good pictures.

what are some good landbased spots for the bigger fish...cos where i fish i dont get much...which is usually like hilarys or ocean reef.
could anyone give me some tips on some better spots to try for tailor, mulloway or even snapper?? or whatever else decent?

Scarborough / brighton
Try the dog beaches down near scarborough and brighton and look for the gutters and holes, perfect for mullas and the occasional tailor.

5 hours not a single run with A small live yellowtail (didnt even get tailor munched)
- Fresh Tailor Fillets
- Fresh squid
- whole dead scaly mack.
Didnt even get a sniff. Guy got busted off earlier that night on 12lb when we first got there, plenty of headshakes made 2 runs then snap.
Plenty of small yellowtail around.
Will try again next week hopefully.
Was great to get the Calcutta 700 out for the first time, would have loved to have a run on it.

Woodmans point, There was a SHT load of em they were jumping out thousands of them in massive balls and were occasionally getting harassed by tailor. Just drop the tinyest bit of berly and bam all 3 hooks were fished. 20 minutes got the 2 of us 40, didnt need anymore so we left
