I wish I could join you. There have been quite a few smallish pinkies around down there lately and it is only a matter of time before someone hooks a big one.
i use a running sinker rig for snapper. Clip swivel running on main line to a swivel then i tie a meter leader with two snelled hooks on the end put your scalies yellow tail or mulies with the head at the bottom then a bit of ghost cotton around the tail and hook. You dont get the best cast but you dont want to cast to far anyway as the snapper hang around the rocks. Click your bail arm over as soon as the sinker hits the water so your sinker drags the bait to the bottom. Good luck
Drift bait id have the sinker right down near the hooks i have the sinker clipped on the clip swivel above my swivel. Depending on wind i usually use the biggest star sinkers snapper arent fussy they hit hard make sure your line is tight if u are putting it in rod holder as sometimes they will hit and swim towards u if your line isnt tight u wont see it and next time u go to check your bait u will be snagged up.
I feel your pain! My last job as an employee was to create an aus-wide M$ network for the guys that bought my employers out, and then hook that up to the international supplier's doze domains.
Stingrayz are like carpet burns unavoidable but its still fun getting them..try half a cork just above your bait.and a longer leader so it sits off the bottom.
Cast off the outside into the elbow between the lighthouse and disabled ramp.
Running sinker / snells 4/0's using herring fillets.
Couple of "authorative bites" but nothing would run with it.
Practically no-one else around.
Pair of blokes up under the lighthouse lasted about an hour and presumably went home empty handed. And some keen soul was facing the elements out on the tip of the south wall. Did notice he/she had a light on down at the waterline for a while, possible gaffing something... perhaps he got lucky..
Other then that it was the usual P plated young couples out for a "walk"...

A surf paternoster works well
It is just a matter of whether you want to use single hooks, snelled hooks or ganged hooks.
I have been using a rig with two twisted droppers and single hooks lately.

Hi Karellan
It can be a hit and miss there at night. I find the early mornings usually are more reliable - from just on sunrise.
