Seen it happen to my mate when this squid would'nt leave his bait alone so he tried to gaff it and copped ink straight in the face.
Never laughed so hard in my life.
Pretty accurate the old squid hey. Copped it fair and square in the chops.
I once saw a guy use an inverted bucket which was somehow threaded onto the line as the squid came up so as to shield the angler in case the squid inked as it was coming over the side. Can't remember if it was on a fishing show or what, but I distinctly remember seeing it once. Can anyone else remember seeing something like that (maybe Rex Hunt or something?)

Bluddy big outfit for catching squid on! And yeah Andy mac i remember seeing that as well. Dont think it was rexhunt but i remember seeing the old bucket system slid onto the line to stop the linking from happening. Ill think about it a bit more and see if i can remember.
