Looks like a fat mako Goatch but it does look like it has the tigers markings in the pic! Just got off the phone to Rockpom and he had a 9 footer buzz him today and he had to charge it with gun in hand to piss it off! That was with a SHARK SHIELD!!! IF IT SMELLS LIKE FISH IT MUST BE GOOD FOR YOU!
I think he was looking at Bouttimes boat counting the three meals on boat then the two meals on Simo's waiting for one of us to be pulled over by a sambo good to see there are still large sharks locally, the deep sea garbage disposals
100kg, thats not overly huge then, good sport at that size, used to get alot of sharks aver east up to 250kg , good fun thats for sure, especially the mako's
no worries , mate with a gimble and harness you wouldnt be too bad, i fought a marlin once for 3 n half hours and didnt feel much worse than other that took an hour, sharks will fight different than the sambo's just need a couple of experienced ppl on the boat for when you get it deckside
I suppose your right, but Mako's are nuts and very unpredictable. It would be spectacular to watch . I would be the one deckside saying " You take the bloody Hook out"
had a fair few mako's over at bermagui, love when the hooks go in and you get the jump, just need a good set of wire cutters at hand and your right my dad one year got a 16foot shark to the boat in 10 mins and just had it swiming around, couldnt do nothing with it as the boat was only 17 foot
if anybody wants to go out for a mako type fishing trip i definately want to be in that got 24kg stand up gear and a big urge ha ha wanna feel the rush but will need a spot on a boat as im not nuts enough to target them in mine ha ha
I got mates nagging me to get out and target that Mako. I told them there is no way is coming in the boat. It would only be give it a kiss and cut it loose.
The bronzies on the other hand.
Need a bait thats to big for the sambos though. A whole stripey tuna would be spot on I reckon. . . No Orange Hats Allowed
Caught one about 8ft long and it went ape shit. was reely buzzing as me and a mate where in a 13ft tinny. It jumped all over the joint doing flips all over the place. We where both hoping that it wouldn't land in the tinny (we where both ready to bail if it did).
With 24kg stand up and ten foot of 200kg wire and about an hour or so pulled him up along side. The tinny was not anchored so the tinny travelled about a 1 1/2 k's. He was stuffed but swam off after. Me mate cut the trace and he wasn't keen on getting to close to the teeth. they hang right out off the mouth (scary).
Wishin I was fishin and only 500k's to the water..

Are you joking???
It was a nasty, big, VERY big, bad, VERY bad and horrible toothy monster.
And he wasn't happy.
So glad I was there to see him.
Certainly took his time checking out all the upgrades to Bouttime's boat. Especially the motor repairs!!!
I do whatever the little voices tell me to do
