Frog fishing-Singapore
Submitted by Simbiotic on Sun, 2013-01-27 11:38I spent a week in Singapore last year, stayed in a district called ?Gaylang. (I am a tight-arse, so chose the 3rd cheapest hotel advertised on the internet.)
One night, on the way home from the bars, we noticed a large warehouse type building, which had the sounds of people enjoying themselves inside. We thought it might be a bowling alley or something, but went to check it out.
Inside was around 8 in-ground swimming pools, with people fishing for various creatures using simple poles - string - hooks. You hire the poles by the hour and get to keep the catch. Most people were fishing for prawns and baby mud-crabs, but i went fishing for large frogs.
I caught 6 or 8 frogs, but ended up giving them away as they didnt look particularly appetizing to me.
This may not have been the type of fishing you were looking for in Singapore, but it was certainly entertaining at the time.
