went out the 3 mile this morning started to burly, nothing for about 60 mins.until a spot change then got some big skippy and a couple of ytk and sambos plus a few black tip sharks,thougth there might be a few pinkies around or something like that, very slow, conditions perfect, still it beats working

Ok, I went to google earth, zoomed in on my house, wrote down gps co-ords ,transferred them to handheld GPS pressed GO-TO and was out by 480M Whats the story? cheers Pete

Me and my mate are up at exmouth at the moment. Did ok this morning trolling but struggled to find good ground for bottom fishing. We are only here for two days then moving on up the coast. Can anyone spare us a couple of GPS marks for some bottom fishing??? Dont wanna spend a  day trying to find half decent ground for half a days fishing before we go. If anyone could send me a couple of marks you are a  legend...

I went to mindarie during one last year and it would have to be the most fun ive ever had NOT catching fish......

has any one had any luck down there, and what rigs you using???

I was crossing (trying to) the Narrows this arvo on the way into the city and got smacked by this huge hailstorm. No bullshit, those stones wree the size of cricket balls. I ended up with a smashed front windscreen and irrpairable damage to the roof, bonnet and the side of my beloved 4x4. So what to do next? What will the insurance company say???

How much other damage is out there? I see there is a structural calamity and the Jacob's ladeder region.

One thing is for sure, my beloved 4x4 got me home. A lot better result than a lot of other small car owners out there .

Anyone recommend a rod for squid jigging?

Those listening to the ABC radio segment last week may have heard us talking to Chris Dolbel from the Fishers with Disabilities Association Incorporated. Chris is in desperate need of some volunteers to help him run trips for those less fortunate than ourselves. I offered to put something up on fishwrecked in case some of our fly-in-fly-out guys, semi-retired people and or anyone else might be able to lend a hand.

Fishers with Disabilities is a not for profit organisation that brings fishing to the disabled in our community. It is a totally free service we provide to people with any disability. We supply everything required including motorised reels for those that are not able to wind their own reel in. we fish from Hillarys in the North to Rockingham and Mandurah in the South and on occasions we tour the regional areas. We also have a purpose built boat which can take wheel chairs and would like to hear from the holders of Skippers Tickets. Our Boat, “The Nev Thomas”, is only ever taken into sheltered waters. Mainly the Swan River and occasionally Mandurah.

We are always looking for volunteers who are able to commit to at least one day a month. Virtually all our workshops are held during working hours so we are a little restricted in who is able to assist. Retirees, shift workers and part time workers seem best able to fit this volunteering into their schedule. We are looking for men and women to help us and would look forward to your contact.

We are dependent on volunteers to assist at these workshops, however if the client needs a carer or support worker they must bring their own as our volunteers are not trained or expected to assist in these matters.

This is a highly rewarding activity and our long-term volunteers never cease to derive great pleasure form their efforts. It would be terrific if you could come and join us.

Thinking about getting a new outfit for this years billfish shootout... was looking at getting a Tiagra 16 or 20, what size do you think would be better for 10 kilo? There's a fair weight difference between the two. And a nice rod to suit?

Please can someone help me with my lack of ability, I 've been numerous times to Mindarie to try and catch some herring. There have generally been some guys around everytime who are always reeling them in pretty much every cast so they are definitely around. I've asked them about their set up and tried to copy, but basically I'm clearly a crap fisherman, failing each time!

 I know berley is crucial, using a 10ft rod, casting etc pretty decent, rig is a wire berley cage, attached to a swivel, about 70-100cm 9lb leader and a fairly small hook. Bait tried small pieces of prawns and also green tubing with a few Berkley Gulp maggots. Cast, let it sink for a few seconds, then reel it in slowly with the occasion jerk... What am I doing wrong its driving me insane! Berley, using ready made stuff from fishing shops.

 Secondly heading down to Esperance for easter and staying near the tanker jetty, any tips on fishing there?

Reports around the place say that it wasn't the best conditions out on the west side, but 71 black marlin were tagged and released, 7 sailfish and 2 tagged fish (1 hung) or there abouts.  The marlin that was hung was a state record and there was a pending junior world record for a 6.8kg golden trevally on 3kg.  I left the weigh in before it was finished, but some very decent catches recorded.

Other notable was Bernie Vale from Mahi Mahi 2 putting his punters onto 7 marlin for the day after hooking 9 and seeing plenty more.  I will provide some more reports as I hear them over the week.

Also young fishwrecked junior fishing comp winner, Alex Nelson, gave a quick spiel to Jenny Gates and a GWN cameraman about his unsuccessful, but fun day out on the water today.

wats the best knot to tie from around 8lb braid to 10lb mono leader? and is a small knot so it dosent stuff up guides on the rod.
