butterfly jig
Submitted by Six Fish Dunsborough on Thu, 2013-01-31 18:08Dose anyone know if it is better to have a bottom hook on a butterfly jig (dose it effect the lures action), or is it just prefernece?
When using a butterfly jig do you wind it up like crazy, like a knife jig, or is the retreve more suttle?

Cranka Crab Lures
Submitted by meglodon on Thu, 2013-01-31 17:22Has any one any solid news on cranka crab lures, these things are suppost to be the next best thing to come onto the market since sliced bread, only one problem though. They havn't come onto the market. Last year 2012 they won an award at the big fishing grear show over the east and every body was singing the praises of these new revolutionary lures that were going to slay black bream in the the millions along with a host of other species. In november i sent an Email to the cranka crab troops asking about when this lure was going to be released etc and basically received a reply that some manafacturing problems needed to be over come and this was taking time. If you look at their web site it is quite out of date and makes no mention of a proposed release date for their cranka crab lures.
I personly have a view of the situation and that view is not health, can any of the F/W sponsers through some accurate light on this company and their product, the two guys who run the show appear to be upright honest types but...

Marron bait – what to use?
Submitted by oz74 on Thu, 2013-01-31 09:44Hi all.
Never been marroning before but thought I would take the little fella for a dose of camping and marroning tomorrow night.
Going down to the Murray River so from what I have read, I can use nets – so now wondering what people’s ideal baits are?
Thanks in advance for any advice or trade secrets you are willing to give up.
Cheers

Workers Compensation for Sole Trader
Submitted by Dale on Wed, 2013-01-30 16:19For those of you who are sole traders, I've been asked to go out an ABN to be a contractor and work comp insurance but I'm having all kinds of problems getting insurance. I've been told I need to have a ACN to do this so I can get insurance as the director. To get an ACN to going to cost about another $500 or there abouts as I see this as totally overkill. Is there an easier way to go to get this insurance?
cheers

Undersize Fish
Submitted by mbusby on Wed, 2013-01-30 15:25So this discussion came up on the weekend ,
To start im not up for keeping undersize fish even sized fish i will release when i have enough for a feed , but in the process of releasing a couple of small herring and whiting and putting back in the ocean , I noticed they werent swimming off.
after a five minutes or so there still struggling and just washing around in tide.Rather than let these fish suffer i promptly killed them and used later for bait . So they did go back to the ocean so to speak but what do you do in this situation .
I dont wanna start a huge argument but should i leave them to suffer and the birds swoop at or can i use them for bait?

?? For the long time offshore fisho's
Submitted by grayzeee on Wed, 2013-01-30 13:16I have heard it said that fish come in cycles through the years.
Personally , having only been chasing demersals offshore for 3-4 years (metro to 2 rox) , I can say that I've caught dhueys most often.
So in order of frequency caught - my list would go
1 - dhueys
2 - BB
3 - baldie's
4 - size pinkies (tons of small ones)
5 - Queeny's
(list doesn't include shit fish)
Do others concur? Also, what used to be the most likely caught and how many years ago?

Submitted by reece on Wed, 2013-01-30 10:27 Went to throw a few small frames in the water lastnight in dunsborough an had a guy from busselton shire go ape s$&t at me and take my photo! ( Didnt appreceate a camara in my face) I normally give them all to fisheries but it was to late for them to pick up an I was leaving early morning. I was told to go pick them up or I'd get a $500 on the spot fine! I told hit I was setting crab baits
and would take them home when I finished. This made him proper flip!!! Swearing and started taking more photos on his phone of my car. I told him if he didn't stop I would give him a $500 on the spot dental bill! All the fuss an a few people had gathered. One of the guys in the crowd asked wot was going on and the guy from the shire explained that he has photo evidence of me litterinf an would take me to court! the random guy snatched the phone and threw it in the wate and ran off!! Absolute legend ![]()
