Genuine lithgow (aussie) 303 WW1 1918 renderd rifle
Submitted by tailor marc on Mon, 2009-09-14 14:58Great collectors item of australian war history.
You dont need a licence as it hs been deactivated
Things i found out about this gun from austhunting forum
Quote from the forum.......
"Wow nice rifle, Bloody shame about it being deactivated...
But such is life. Yep you're right about the H.V. Stamp. This basicially means that she had been sighted for the MK VII ammunition the pointed nose stuff. The MK VI ammo are the rounds with the long rounded projectiles. The rear sight was fitted with a lower ramp as the MK VIIs had a flatter trajectory and longer range.
Nice lithgow coat of arms on the wrist along with the 1918 date and Mk III* stamp. This was replaced in about 1926 with just a very plain M.A. stamp. The MK IIIs were the ones with the mag cut off and long range volley sights. Though interestingly your action appears to have the slot for the mag cut off??
5/55 could well be the date it was sold out of service...ie surplus.
G 910 I suspect is a rack number, cause if it had beed the orginal serial number it would have been crossed out when the A 4212 serial number was stamped on. The 12 1B on the brass disc could mean it was the 12th rifle issued to the 1st Battalion, which would mean it would have to have been a replacement rifle given the year of manufacture.... "
and by another member.....
"G'day Mate.
One thing I can tell you is that it was once on issue to an Australian Cadet Corps Unit as evidenced by the green band/stripe painted around the butt. This means that it was approved for firing live ammunition.
Stock to me looks like QLD Maple, all original to the rifle. Apart from the fact it's a Deact', it's a very honest original rifle. I like the fact that it will be looked after in it's forced retirement.
Cheers."
Seen the same year and aussie 303 in antique shops in guildford for $800
Will part with it for $620

Looking for digi SLR
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Thu, 2008-09-04 09:39Hi Crew,
Well my camera has finally bitten the dust (lucky for you guys coz it was flat glass out from tantas yesterday) and I'm going to be looking at getting a new one with my tax return in the coming weeks.
Has anyone bought a SLR lately they are happy with, got it cheap, reputable internet seller etc etc? I don't know heaps about cameras, but I guess the shutter speed will be pretty important to obtain as many photos as possible in a short time span. I will also be looking at telescopic zoom as well to capture those far away jumping shots. I was thinking of a Canon 30 or 40d or something similar, but thought I'd put it out there to see what you guys thought or if you had any information which could assist me.
Cheers,
Adam

Fishwrecked hats ??
Submitted by Maverick on Wed, 2006-07-26 17:09Are there any plans on fishwrecked hats being made , I'm looking for a different hat to wear on the boat , I have a FWA peak hat but don't like baseball type hats on a boat , and I have a WAFM bucket hat that I'm wearing at the moment, any chance of some Fishwrecked bucket hats getting made .
I recon the bucket style hat or cricket hat would be good as it gives better protection when out fishing .
Just a suggestion .

Submitted by Fishwrecked on Tue, 2006-02-21 12:07I have been working on getting some fishwrecked.com shirts done over the past few weeks and they are almost ready to be made. The design is to be a blue navy collared shirt - breathable, with the fishwrecked logo --------------------------->

If you are interested, please let me know soon because the shirts get cheaper the more that are ordered.
