Fishing Report
Bluewater Tackle World
Friday 27/4/18

No boat, no problem! The fish are here and there is plenty of action to be had right off our metro beaches. We have had yet another seriously hot landbased fishing week and for the 7th week in a row now an unbelievable amount of mulloway and snappper have been landed. The northern beaches are fishing exceptionally well at the moment, and even anglers like our work experience gun Austin have had luck in other spots south of the river. Check out this mulloway he pulled in off the rocks at North Mole.

If you are wanting to get into some local lure spinning, the bigger winter tailor are starting to reguarly show up. Again the northern beaches have been producing well, and with some luck you might be looking at one of these greenback models like local customer Anthony is holding below.

Off the rocks at Mindarie Marina, customers have been letting us know that there is plenty of bread and butter species around. So if you’re after a simple feed or some fun with friends or family, this could be a great option under some sunny weather.

The salmon are abundant on the offshore reefs and there has been no shortage of boats around Rowboat reef and Mewstone lately. If you want to get in on some of the hot action, be prepared to squeez in between the boats!

Not far from the same area, squid have been fishing very well. Some great numbers have been coming in, and regular customers have mentioned the weed banks close to Garden Island and Carnac in part of their success.

Demersal fishing has been somewhat hot and cold at times lately. Some anglers have been finding it hard to fill their bag in the shallower water but with some persistence you can end up with a mixed bag like Bordy Laroux’s below. It also looks worth while dropping cray pots around the chunky reef systems close in at the moment as some customers report they are getting great numbers of good sized reds. Who can complain?

Out deeper the fish seem to be a lot thicker. Over the last week we have had a huge amount of some great dhueys landed. Mindarie Charters cracked their pb this week with punter Steven Hughes reeling a dhuey that tipped the scales at just over 20kg! And this wasn’t the only fish of its size for the week! Some great fish have been coming from the deeper water, particuarly the 40s and 70s.
