20-30lb braid??

hey all.
just a quick question.
i bought a bario 11ft 6-15kg rod about a month ago and im about to buy a 8000 sphero reel.
now for the question, do you think 20-30lb sunline super PE braid would be better hoping to get 300m of line on it. the fish i want to be targeting is tailor, salmon, bonito when around, but also the chance of mulloway and also land the odd small shark.
what do you guys think?
cheers

I've got the same rod and use an 8000 size reel.
I run mono instead when beach fishing.

hey danno, sorry i dont want
hey danno, sorry i dont want to hi jack your thread, just want to ask DAZ why you prefer mono for beach fishing? im fairly new to fishing over here, ive always used mono before, but every1 says use braid so i put 30lb on my penn 750ssm with my 11ft penn slammer, as im a novice with braid the knots im struggling with, eg braid to mono, if line goes slack sometimes the braid tangles.
in general im not that happy with it , but thats probably because im a abeginner, would you reccomend i get a 2nd spool and put mono on? if so what type do you use.
cheers
an eager learner
sorry again danno

TonyT - it's a personal
TonyT - it's a personal preference for me. All other applications of fishing (apart from game trolling), I will use braid.
Specifically, where I fish (beach based), there's a rocky shelf that drops away into the ocean. Mono offers far better abrasion resistance compared to braid.
I've always used mono for beach fishing, and will continue to do so.

I have the
12ft version with a Daiwa Emblem Pro 5500 and i run 30lb Rovex Viros. Brilliant line, super thin and casts beautifully. If your thinking sharks/ Mulloway i'd be running 30lb

Hey Danno, Its nice line
Hey Danno,
Its nice line Mate.I have the 30LB on a Applause 8000 and a Saltiga surf 600 which both go on a Lemax GT-S 25-65LB 120H2.
Chasing manly Tailor, Mullaways, Salmon. Got a 1.2m Spinner shark a few months back with this line and 8 good Size Salmon Back Last time they Swam by down Margs way.Handled nicely no Probs.
300m on both with a bit of Backing, cast smoothly, Nice and thin.
Sure does cut into the Fingers when casting with Heavy Weights though.
A couple off Winds of Fluro 30LB on the Spool sort that out though. Up there with Daiwa Tournement.

sounds good
ive had 20-30 pound mono on my beachy before and its good for soaking a bait for sharks etc but its way to thick for casting lures and mullies .4-.5mm mono just holds your casting distance back imo and it sounds like you have a nice combo go it.cheers

hey all ive been thinking
hey all
ive been thinking and i think that ill only be casting lures and mulies for tailor and salmon and tailor and leave the bait soaking to my penn 850ssm.
so should i use 30lb or 20lb fast casting?
cheers

Either 20lb or 30lb would be
Either 20lb or 30lb would be fine, but I'd go the 30lb personally. I've got almost an identical combo (spheros 8000 + 10' bario) and I run 30lb on it no problems. pe3 is still thin enough to cast lures well with and you have 50% more breaking strain.
that being said, i normally use this combo for heavier stuff, normally use my 4000 size combos with pe2 for smaller lures for salmon/snapper etc.

If theres no one on the
If theres no one on the beach then braid is fine, but if theres people around then you could get some nasty tangles, personally when beach fishing bigger the better mean you can really lock down the drag if something bigger comes along.
