2010 fishing targets
Submitted by HuggyB on Fri, 2010-01-01 22:42
I just finished reviewing my 2009 targets and I still have a few not met, but likewise I struck a few off that list!
So what are everyones targets for 2010?
For me it is:
- a sizable GT
- sailfish
- broadbill swordfish
- billfish on fly
- red emperor
- coral trout
- bonefish
- permit
- a big tuna
- wahoo
- queenie on fly
- dollie on fly
Gonna be a busy 2 weeks at Exy this year!

Hoping to make it to Exmouth
Hoping to make it to Exmouth in May, and hope to add to the list (for line fishing anyway), which is pretty small.
I hope my $89 Rex Hunt combo survives Exmouth too.

i wouldnt rely too much on the rex hunt combo, ok for light stuff but i dont think it would hold up on a big running fish like the ones in exxy

Come on Russ - half the fun
Come on Russ - half the fun is wondering when it will explode. It has caught a couple big rays plus some nice baldies around Mindarie.
There is nothing like outfishing a mate who spends massive $$$$$$ on gear with a Rex Hunt special, especially one of the junior set ups.

My main target this year is
My main target this year is to catch a dhuie as I have never caught one.
If I manage to get one early then it will be to get a 100kg plus billy and to give the deepwater fishing a crack and see if I can get a hapuka and a ruby.
I managed to get all my targets last year so fingers crossed this year will be just as good, if anyone's keen to help with the search just let me know, I've got plenty of free time and always keen for a trip/adventure.
And good luck with the list Huggy, if you cross them all off it's going to be a hell of a trip.

I was going to have a go at barra on fly
when I went up with Brad but I couldn't fit the rod tube in my suitcase, so it was the first casulty of the trip.
I'll wait for him to get the lay of the land and settle into PH before I hit him up for another trip! LOL. I'm pretty sure Brad wants to knock one off on fly as well, so my tution could be my trump card.

mmm... you could get all
mmm... you could get all those off Dampier but it'd be hard to do it in one trip.. Barra in summer and Sails in winter.. Permit, seen plenty - if I only I knew how to fly fish. I also reckon I've seen bones of D-town too :)

2010 Targets!
Wont be one trip, will be multiple and around the better season & tides. I do several trips to Exmouth per year as I rate the place & having my other boat up there is convenient!
Dampier/Hedland trip will be with a mate that lives up there (Sth Hedland)
Broome/Fitzroy will be another trip also with a mate that lives up there!
Got Bonefish on fly last trip and wiped that off my 2009 target. Like anything, target it and make it happen =)

well it's in this
well it's in this order....
1. get a new boat
2. get the boat into the water
3. make sure you got the bait
4. hit the FADs before they come out this year
5. return to 2 and start again....
after the cr@p 2009 and not a single catch of note for the year, even a blowie is going to be a step up this year,
but I'd like to bag a Metro tuna and mackie, thats the goal

Living away from the ocean has its drawbacks!!!!
Hoping to head down to Albany mid week( if we can get accomodation) and give it a crack before going back to work on the following monday.
