i fished south mole this arvo, only getting a small one, but it usually fires if you have the right jigs and techniques. good size ones kicking around too. we get em all through the day. most marina's have them too, just jig around and youll get them eventually. good luck :)

i tryed the pengos jetty tonight and caught one and lost a monster

u can catch them all day but night and morning they b come more aggresive coz they wonna feed b4 they will get eaten.

they will always b there just gotta find them. if is coppy theyll be deeper if its fine theyll be any where in the water coloum. if its murky its hard to get them but if its to clear it can also be hard to get them coz theyll spoke easy.

theyll be almost anywhere there is weed and sand and bait fish for them to eat.

if u notice some bait fish cruiseing around get a blue out and try and match wat the squid are going to see naturaly.

they actually become more active during rough weather (cloudy, etc) because the cloud cover means it not clear water, causing the squid to come out more. schecky's metro PB (pictures on here somewere)was caught on an overcast day, and my best haul was also on an overcast day. if you are fishing structure (jetties, pilons, etc) and their not taking a jig, put a cast in under, into the shadow, and chances are you will get at least a couple. ive always done well on pink yo zuri's, no matter the conditions. always good to work the entire water column any day, because if your only picking up smaller ones at such a depth, vary it, and you should pick up some bigger ones. im not a squidding master, but i hope what ive told you has helped. get in contact with your local reputed tackleshop (oceanside, tackle shack) and theyll set you straight. good luck :)

I've heard that you can catch squid in the Swan River as well - how far up the river can they caught or is it mainly down near Freo?

where abouts in the Cut have you been getting them?

got them at the jolly frog jetty casting up the side of the rocks . what about techniqe ? wat is the best way to work the squid jig?

the best way it to let it sink near the bottomover the weed and lift the rod tip up then let it fall again. u can do it in single movements up then let its sink or jig jig jig then let it sink. find wats best for u and the squid on the day.

i usually let a 2.5 size jig sink for 10 seconds, or until; it hits the bottom. then wind up the slack ,and 3 whips. let it sink again, weind up slack, etc,etc. works well, turns on the squid
