I'm thinking of upgrading all my z series and '08 Stella's to the new saltiga.. I'd like to see a few reports from guys that have used them in anger for a while
I dont reckon you should trade in the 08 stellas just for a 2020 reel. Those stellas are the best ones they ever made in my opinion and will one day become a bit of a collectors item. I wouldn't trade mine for a new reel.
I have two saltiga 20 - 14,000's (one for jigging/livebait and one rigged with stickbait ready to go)- little use to date (hopefully soon to change) but they are a cracker reel. great drag, no water entry points and cranking power aplenty
Diawa certainly lifted their game with the design of this one - previously prefered the stella (stella previously pipped saltiga with the better drag system).
Love the fact someone has finally done away with spool cutouts that only serve to let water in under the spool all to save a few grams IMO

I’m with new age
Those 2008 stellas (silver and gold) were probably the best Shimano spin reel made
the best saltiga in my opinion were the saltiga s extreme's.
both were built tough but smooth
