24v solar marine

Looking for a solar system to keep the boat batteries topped up, and the boat has 2 24v banks

All I can find is 12v systems. Does anyone know where to get 24v systems from in Australia?

Pete we installed a 24 volt system on simons boat.

Which invloved installing 2 by 250w panels

MPPT Regulator

2 by 200 amp hour 24v deep cycles

And a 2.5kw inverter/ DC charger

Keeps every thing running freezers and fridges 24/7.

If you see simon get him to show you the set up on Back in Black.

Moored next to yours.

Solar Panel

Tue, 2017-11-28 18:33

 Hi Wal,

Most standard house panels have high volts coming off them. Use a MPPT charger and it brings them down to the volts coming off the Battery. I have just used a Flexible Solar Panel with 55 Volts coming off and into an Epever MPPT Solar Reg and it converts it down to 14volts or so for my fridge on the boat. The trick is to get a MPPT that does 24V and when you connect it up to a 24v Battery setup it recognises the volts then when the solar comes on line from the panel the conversion starts. The small advantage is that as the volts drop in the afternoon with 12v Solar setups you lose the amps. As the volts drop of the higher volt panels. The amps stay high thanks to the MPPT and you get more for your batteries. Fleabay Epever and look at the remote display as well.

These are good controlers and will auto select a 12 or 24v system.

A lot of your domestic rooftop solar panels are 24v. They are series connectied to get the voltage required in a domestic solar instalation.
