Power reports

Waz, check out this Yamaha web site as they have power reports that may provide a very useful reference base for your requirements, http://www.yamaha-motor.com.au/marine/index.htm?marine.asp. Left hand side click on tab  POWER REPORTS

We have had one done on the 350 V8 on our Abrolhos and is fantastic form giving information. We have it posted on our web site for download, and we will be doing other boats in ur range as they are fitted with different motors.

Regards, Andrew

I looked at specs for 200hp

I looked at specs for 200hp in the same makes and Honda and they seem pretty much on par for fuel economy give or take a few litres, most worked out at around the 70-80lt per 100km trip, I have a two stroke at the moment and use about 120lt per 100km trip, with the etec you have to add oil to the price but the servicing is cheaper so it's much a much, as you say they are all great motors so comes down to personal preference and location of nearest dealer etc, I like the Etec 200hp HO! At WOT they all use a shit load of fuel!!

They r all good but

I done a bit of research and have had a few different motors,Yammie's r good and have a proven record but have fallen behind a little in new technology but r still up there the 250 is the same motor as the 225,Honda's have a proven record and continue to improve every year,Suzi's have to be equal with honda in my opinion just getting better every year and a proven outboard,Etec i have heard good reports and bad, one being on a cat with twins always having problems with one or the other,i dont think they have a proven record to date only going by what ive been told, and weight depends on how much weight you want hanging of the back as the etec is alot lighter will change the performance of the boat.
