Nice work you seem to be on a good run lately. I am going to throw a Waxwing around off the jetty next week at night time and see if they jump on that. The big ones seem to come out at night. Nothing like tailor fishing.

well i fish right ontop of
well i fish right ontop of the reef, and i dont usually try only one setup, some nights i would try a basic 3 gang with mullie with a star sinker and do well, others i would baitcast mullies, try metals, poppers and recently trying stickbaits and i have caught on all, i notice some of the bigger tailor are a bit later after sunset, around 8:30 to 9, also dont get put off by the ocean, if it looks really rough and choppy stay cause the tailor love that way, and alway fish in a deep gutter, where i fish there are usually 2 or 3 gutters, and always be patient , be prepared to put in the hours, ive put in plenty of hours beach fishing and some nights ive fished for 4 hrs straight with no catch and just as im about to throw the towel in i hook a big fish, good luck and try the northern beaches from scabrough onwards,

Cheers for the advice brett
Cheers for the advice brett apriciate it , there's lots of reef where I fish too and it surrounds a big sandy hole . I usually just use a running bean sinker to a swivel and a set of 4/0 gangs as I have had most sucsess like this , I've tryed to just bait casting mulies with no sinkers but it find I carnt get it far out enough or the big surf just brings it back in , will have to give metals and poppers ago , going to try when it's a bit rougher I usually give it a miss if there's too much wind , i went last night and got down to my last muilie and hadn't caught anything cast out and was just about to reel in and hooked one was a alright size and I wud love to give the northen beaches a crack but it's a bit of a hike from down here in mandurah .

I landed a nice one there
I landed a nice one there yesty morning, and apparently another guy got a couple around the 75cm mark. Also saw a guy land a nice one on plastic as well.
Just a tip Brett, not being a smart arse or anything, but if you are keeping your tailor for a feed, bleed them immediately and their eating quality will skyrocket. While tailor aren't everyone's cup of tea, I love a feed of fresh tailor and find that bleeding them is a necessity, as is freshness. Any longer than 24 hours and the quality deteriorates. I only keep what I will eat the same day.
The one I caught yesterday morning went into the smoker and holy shit, give it a go!!

we use spices to add more
we use spices to add more flavour to fish like tailor and salmon, i will post a recipe soon, makes a tailor and salmon tatse a hell of allot better, but must cook within a week of catch preferably the day off catch or day after and do not freeze tailor and salmon, bleed them both straight away on catch and clean then and there only put the fish in the fridge to keep fresh before cooking. (one way to tell that the tailor has gone bad a little is when u cook it, u dont get clean white flesh u get a brownish colour)

How do you bleed them? Not
How do you bleed them? Not picking at you but in all the pics it appears as though none of your fish have been bled. Ive always been taught to slit the throat after a headshot, do you do it different to this?

i take a photo first then
i take a photo first then bleed and clean fish straight after and not all the time i keep them to eat, sometimes i just keep some for fresh bait, hoping for a bigger fish, i do bleed them the same way

Top catches night after night
Top catches night after night but the second pick doesnt make sense if your bleeding them on catch straight away and clean then and there? It looks like your kitchen unless you are living right near the beach?

Yeah that's what I
Yeah that's what I thought.
The idea of bleeding a fish, or any animal for that matter, is to drain the blood from it while it is still circulating. If not done immediately, ie before the heart stops pumping blood, the blood coagulates throughout the flesh, seriously compromising the eating quality of the fish.

Well done mate, top local
Well done mate, top local fishing.
Not that it matters but I iki and just snip the first gill close to the mouth on both sides and you gotta dodge the blood! You cant even tell its been bled when you look at it.
