40HP Merc won't start after running dry at full-throttle
Hi All,
I've got a 40HP, 2-stroke, 3-cylinder, manual mix, pull start Merc (Tohatsu under the hood I'm told) on the back of a 5m centre console Brooker. It was fully-serviced less than two months ago and has run beautifully since then ... until last weekend.
I was heading back to Poddyshot ramp in Denmark with the throttle fully open when I ran a tank dry. Haven't had a problem swapping tanks before but this time the engine was fully-cranked.
After swapping, the first or second pull almost turned it over but after that ... nothing. Thought I may have flooded it but took a plug out and am pretty sure it was dry. After driving back to Perth and leaving for day it still won't turn over so I'm assuming I have a fuel problem. The bulb is primed and the tank valve open so is this a carby problem? Have I sucked air into somewhere I shouldn't have? Is it gunk (I did clean the tanks recently)?
I'm keen for any advice on things I can check before spending hundreds more after a recent service.
Cheers!

Hi mate fill original tank
Hi mate fill original tank you may have contamance in reserve tank, check fuel filter screen and try that, remove plugs clean/replace while plugs removed have engine on/off switch in off position and pull it a few times then fitt new plugs and try it, if still no good try spraying start ya bastard/crc into intake to see if fires (if fires then most likly a fuel blockage).
Cheers adam.

Thanks Adam.
When things went dodgy I did pour fuel from reserve tank to original tank in an attempt to eliminate the reserve tank fuel line as a problem. I had only filled the reserve tank the day before ... and with 98 mind you! ... it was all they had in Denamrk that day.
Never removed the filter before but will check it out later.
When you say spray the SYB/CRC into the intake, precisely where do you mean?

The box infront of the carby's just spray for a second or two in the hole of the air box, then try and start.
