50mile offshore... then hit by a squall! +Reds

Hi everyone myself and FW members iron pirate and timmy12 went out a few days ago. the day started off with some nice conditions for the ride out then next minute everything went black. within about 15 minutes we had sideways rain belting with and easy 35knot+ wind and about a 25m vis. the ocean was so airated both my sounders cut out.

I attached a small video here in the vid it looks like the boats cruising along but its just nosed into with the motor just in gear

After about an hour or so it pass just leaving a swell and the fish were on the chew so cant complain we bagged out on reds, saddles, crimson, trout, rankins, tuna and macks

persintance pays off some times Cheers, Pricey

Good stuff. Ive had the same

Thu, 2013-01-03 16:50

Good stuff. Ive had the same happen to me once but I was in a tiller steer tinny. Not much fun knowing that you have no option but to nose into it and wait it out with the bilge pump running. Fish did come on after though.

I've seen storm cells like that pass through Seabird before. Seas up to 3m waves then gone and nigh on glass off.

Your not alone on getting

Thu, 2013-01-03 19:34

Your not alone on getting caught out by wet season storms. They build up quick and flog the hell out of you.

At least you wernt being lashed by a full on thunder storm. Add a heap of lightening and it turns from full on to down right scary and I'm speaking from experiance. Only advantage of a thunder storm is they are normal small and dont last long.

Great to see you had the rewards!!

yep been in something similar

Fri, 2013-01-04 08:45

yep been in something similar west of Karratha, rained that hard you couldnt hear each other even when yelling. Blew its guts out for about 30 minutes, but the rain was so hard it was calming the ocean.... then it passed and it was like a mill pond except some swell.

Scary thing was, you could see the squall coming across the ocean...with the wind chop...
