about to order my new suzuki 4 stroke yewwwww

just a tad excited as iam placing a order for a suzuki 90hp on monday, just sold my faithful old girl 90hp 2 stroke merc lastnight.

anyone had any work done by all boats in kingsley, so far they have been real good. plenty of advice and willing to chat.

only problem but hardley a problem is suzuki has intergrated there hour meter into the tacho, leaving me with a hole to fill in the dash, i see they have a volt meter that i could put in its place anyone use these.

like a kid in a lolly shop

cheers

stripped the motor of lastnight gauges and control arm

goodbye old girl

Good stuff

Sat, 2014-08-02 10:58

Gilly, bit like Randell's thread and the new sounder combo. When fishing and boating is your thing there's nothing more exciting than a new bit of gear, im keen to my old girl on the water tomorrow myself, yet the wife just doesnt see our i could get excited over that.

Going from and old 2 stroke to a new 4 stroke will see a big difference in noise, fuel economy, weight and power, im sure it will tick all the boxes, get the photo's up once complete.

You'll love it gilly. I have the same donk on mine. Be careful as they are ultra quiet at idle and you can actuall for get they are turned on. Wait till you see the fuel economy as well.

Hour meter

Sat, 2014-08-02 14:41

I put a 115hp on mine last April, There integrated hour metre only starts to record after 50HRS, I put another hour metre in the dash to fill the hole, you should love it. even though I had an old model Honda on mine, the fuel savings are noticeable.

ive been told the good thing

ive been told the good thing about there hour meter is that it is run time only where as a normal hour meter is run of ignition key, have you noticed any difference in your hour readings between the both, being you put it on april probably not

gillyl

Hay Gillyl you have done a great move, moving away from the 2 stroke. Have you considered going up a little in horse power to say a 115? i did the same changed from a 140 2stroke to a 140 4stroke noise, better fuel economy but lost a heap of speed like 10knots and the hole shot was disappointing. i didnt think there would be much difference power wise.. 2strokes have a heap more torque. If i did it again i should have gone to a min 150 to 175.

I wish mate but my Vin plate is horse power restricted not weight restricted. Happy with the speeds I was getting so as long as I get same output I won't be bothered

at the moment

Sat, 2014-08-02 16:26

gilly, at the moment my dash hour is reading 60.7 hrs and the Suzuki is reading 60. The 90hp Honda weighed a touch over 40kgs more than the 115hp suzuki

Won't regret it went from a Johnson 70 2st to a Yam 70 4 stroke, no loss of power (certainly not noticeable) and actually gained a bit of top speed at WOT, quiet and economy difference major factors, basically double the economy and range.

brett was good to deal with,

Tue, 2014-08-12 18:21

brett was good to deal with, no shitting around trying to sell me crap, he asked what i wanted and thats all he gave me. took me out on the test run showed me the gauges and troll mode, explained all the alarms and servicing alarms. only negative and its not really an issue is if he said he was gona call me or email i was the one that had to chase him up as he may have been busy or forgot. the young bloke that did the work also gave me a run through of the job and heads up on the alarms aswell.

had a look at the wiring and the gauges are sweet just need to tidy up the cables to the battery and heat the heatshrink, they must have forgoten. the excess cable left near my battery terminals is a bit messy but should be an easy fix. also looks like ill have to straighten up the wheel as its of centre and when going straight have to look around the wheel to see gauges. all else seems good so far no real big issues

in the test run was real happy with the litlle extra weight helps hold the ass down, really impressed with the extras that suzuki have come up with new ignition system and servicing alarms. the big test will be open water and the fuel economy.

so in all iam happy with the decision to upgrade the old motor, now its time to fish

I'm sure you wont miss the noise and smell of the 2 stroke either. I think your fuel savings will be considerable too
