Abrohlos excursion

Hi all,am new to the site and am seeking advice/recommendations to making trips to the Abrohlos with my boat.I have a Trophy 2052WA and wonder whether boats this size is safe enough to make the journey which I believe, is about 55miles offshore.Though I do often fish way offshore in Perth (west of Rotto) usually on my own, I would love to join a convoy to the Abrohlos. And if anybody is interested in fishing in the continental shelf in Perth, it will be great if you can join me in your boats.

Boat fishing convoy to continental shelf off Perth and the Abro

Hi Simon, I usually launch off Hillarys during weekdays and Saturdays as I work shifts and outings are normally at short notice if the weather appears to be ok.However, I will certainly notify you a day before I go if it is planned and if weather seems accurate. About the Abrolhos, glad boat size is ok for journey, and fuel wise, it is a diesel inboard. I look forward to anybody who is interested in joining for the trip in the future

the boat will do the trip

the boat will do the trip easy, but like Simon said, fuel will test you.
From Gero, the closest part of the Pelsaert group is 32nm,
Easter Group 38nm and the Wallabi's 45nm. If you beach launch at Pt Gregory the Wallabi's are 28nm.
If you have a cray contact up there some beer and sweet talking might get you a drum of fuel taken out.
What motor does your boat have, outboard on inboard? If you've got the inboard diesel you should have the range to give it a decent go, provided you don't to heaps of miles once out there.
As a guide, when Brad and I did the Monties in his 5.2m with 115 E-Tec (we were up to 70nm from the launch site at times), we took a full boat tank plus 10 jerry cans and had enough to stay for 4 nights. You'd be doing less miles at the Abrolhos than we did that trip.

Hi lucky Tim, glad to know

Hi lucky Tim, glad to know boat size is ok for trip. It has a diesel inboard and I suppose a few jerry cans will see to the unfavorable sea conditions there which I heard is quite common. Don't know any cray fishing soul there mate, and also any idea whether boaties are allowed to stay overnight. It will be great if we can find someone who has experienced in that locality to join a convoy.
