Activator or you mean

Activator or you mean actuator ?

If its a actuator you need something like a hydrastar actuator or a sensa. This is controlled by a in cab electrical controller and changes this to mechanical/ hydraulic brakes.Normally only needed for boats over 2T requiring brake away system.

Ok i see your the lucky bugger with the outrage so over 2T!!

Depending on what you have on the trailer will determine what you need. Basically Over 2T needs a brake away break system so a actuator that is controller from the in cab controller. If you have the electric to hydraulic actuator and brake away kit all you should need is the in cab controller.  Which can be done by any auto spark or most DIY people.

If you need the trailer bits theres a bit more too it, moving break lines, extra cabling, battery kit etc etc. Freo Trailer and tow safe def do it. If you have any questions PM me i did mine myself when it came from USA.

Cheers

They must mean a trailer brake contoller either a red ark remote head unit, low voltage remote head unit or in the budget zone a tekonsha voyager. Give us a call if you want to know more.

Try and get the one that doesn't need adjustment for not being level.  That is, the actuator can be installed at any angle without having to adjust it for not being horizontal to the ground.  These are the ones used for electric over hydraulic brake systems like the hydrastar unit.  They are installed in the car and you adjust it for the braking level with a dial.  You adjust the dial for the weight of the trailer and boat so it supplies even braking effort.  If the boat is off the trailer then you need to adjust the braking effort lighter for less load, otherwise the trailer brakes come on too much and you skid the wheels.

Yep 12+ feed from battery to the controller, Brake feed from either brake pedal switch or to the trailer connector and 1 output cable back to the trailer plug. Just note in some cars you have to take it from the trailer plug due to it being a canbus wiring.

You also need a decent size unswitched feed from the battery to charge and run you brake controller this should be 6mm2. Which then brings you to needing a 14pin connector because you need 2 extra connections ( Most people use 7 pin and put the +12v feed in the reversing lights pin)

Some controllers need to be mounted horizontal and in the direction of travel !
