Adjustments after hydrofoil install
Submitted by still trying on Mon, 2020-05-11 13:11
I have finally given in and fitted a hydrofoil to my dinghy I have a 30hp pull start without any electric trim and was wondering if anyone has installed a hydrofoil to similar set up my dinghy is 4.2m I have got a picture of old position of motor and have moved it 2 holes from the picture. Just wanted to know if that would be close to where I may need to move it too?

Best way would be to water
Best way would be to water test it in different positions. It may just come down to weight distribution

Flat or v hull ?
Flat Hull ,run a string line down ( plum bob)from the top of the transom, motor(leg) should be vertical to that line.
V Hull, I would have it a friction away from the hull at the bottom.
Your ride will depend on where you put weight.
Hydrofoil gets a hull on plain quicker, but water conditions(chop) and boat make may not allow you to run on plain.
Small dingy ,only in river and very flat conditions.
