The thing that annoys me is these green clowns who feed there cats salmon, tuna, pilchards etc. Bugger me, when did a cat ever catch a fish in the wild.
i reckon some of these labour and green cunce, should actually get out there and see things for themselves, rather than listening to a bunch of salad eating hippies, underpriveledged uni knock-backs, and general fruitloops that dont have anything better to do in their spare time but whinge.
Interesting that there has been no mention from Labour on the deal they have done with the Greens. Maybe they won't like the backlash from the punters.
I would like to know how they came up with the statement about marlin being endangered. Scientists like Julian Pepperel who would know more than the lot of them put together tells a different story.
From the office of Greens Senator Rachel Siewerts (Fisheries and Marine):
"The Greens Marine Reserves policy calls for a minimum of 30% “no-take” zones within the areas to be declared marine reserves under the current government’s bio-regional planning process.
It is not 30% of the marine environment (as the fishing lobby is erroneously claiming) but 30% of the marine reserve areas. For example, 33% of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is now zoned “no take”"
This has also been clarified in the media more than a couple of times now.
I understand what Alan Jones is trying to say, but if hes gonna take such a strong stance he should get his facts right IMO
Cuthbad, the thing that disturbs me is MINIMUM 30%. Once they get the 30, how long do you reckon it will be till its 50%?
'Lock people out management' is the cheap and easy way. Easily understood by the vegetables the greens are pushing it on, but totally against the Aussie way of the fair go for all.
That is not what the Greens policy statement says... it says...
"ensure that the National Representative System of Marine Protected Areas program has legislated targets of a minimum of 30% ‘no take’ areas per bioregion by 2012."
That's 30 % per bioregion not per marine park. They either don't know their own policy or they are fibbing.
I get what ya saying mate, its kinda unclear. But when you think about it, the National Representative System of Marine Protected Areas program, refers only to marine protected areas, hence targets of 30% means 30% of marine protected areas.
It concerned me when I first read it, so I emailed the senator responsible for this legislation and it was explained, as it has been in the media a few times. Just put it down to lawyer talk I reckon....
second that wouldnt vote greens,as far as im concerned what rex hunt and alan jones said,i cant argue with that,i have never voted the faceless extreeme greens in my entire life because the cost jobs and create ghost towns where people once lived and worked
will have to agree to dissagree big john, for one I dont think thats the actual attitude of the greens, but fair enough. Secondly, i thought i read recently that fisheries also aims to drastically decrease the percentage of fish taken and no take zones seems a good place to start. A fair go for all, includes a fair go for my grandkids to catch some fish.
Im feeling like this has been discussed a heap recently, so fair enough each to their own. Can certainly understand a heap of fishos are worried, but I guess my main point is dont just believe what ppl tell you about the greens, cuz some of its way off.
Any fisher with half a brain wants there grandkids grandkids ..... to be able to partake in the great outdoors pursuit of fishing.
Plenty of options for effective management, and marine parks have their place, but they aren't the be all and end all silver bullet the greens would have you think they are.

Well presented
Can't argue with any of that.
The push is on, all fishing is under the gun.

again with the talk of 30%
again with the talk of 30% of waters as no take zones.... and then suggesting increased marine reserves increases drug use... interesting lol
