Albright knot

Hey guys how are we all. Guys just wondering if the albrght knot would be a good knot to use on 50lb braid to 80lb mono as I'll be targeting sharks, haven't had much experience in the heavier lines before, opinions would be good, Cheers rails

I use the improved albright

I use the improved albright because the standard albright sometimes slips when tied in braid. Here's a link in case your not familiar with that knot:

http://www.marlinnut.com/knots/albright.shtml

The improved albright they show (second knot) is tied in mono & only has five wraps going up then five more coming back down. Increase that to eight wraps going up & eight wraps coming back down & it is good for braid. Always remember that the mono needs to be the line that's doubled over & the braid needs to be wrapped around it. If you double the braid & wrap the mono, the braid will just slice straight through the mono. It only works when the braid is wrapped around the mono.

I'd say give it up and move

I'd say give it up and move onto a better knot like the GT or FG.

Sharks & Rays will damage

Sharks & Rays will damage your leader which call's for replacement, you'll also likely to snag. Mid knot, GT, PR are all excellent knots but you'll be pushing it tying them in the dark. Stock up on 100lb + windon's, tie a bimini in 3min and you're ready to go with a good reliable setup. Send me a PM if you want windon's. Cheers

I would learn the bimini to GT or bimini/ double to wind-on

its a step up from the albright and well worth it. At first it takes some practice and time but when you've learnt it well you'll have them done in a few minutes. Knot strength is excellent and failures almost never.

Have a crack and im pretty sure you'll be happy
