Alternative to Steep Point in May

I was a bit slow off the blocks this year and missed my chance to book a site for the end of May at Steep.... I also read we can't have fires there now which is a shame.

So my question is can anyone suggest another destination that offers the same as Shelter Bay as it is perfect for what we want. Quiet, beach camping/ fishing, fire pit, swimming, somewhere to moor the 6.5m Barcrusher, simmilar fishing to steep ie pallagics, reefies, somewhere to paddle the kayaks and maybe a bit of spearing?

Cheers

Winta

 Kalbarri maybe? Can still

Kalbarri maybe? Can still get into the macks/Tuna and with a boat your size even better fish can be had. Can crab in the river and good spot for the kayaks by the river mouth for tailor (if you were to stay in town) , and it's only 7 hours from perth.

Lucky Bay just out of kalbarri would be very simular to camping at shelter bay (bit more exposed to the wind  though) . It's protected from the the exposed reef and is perfect for swimming & the kayaks. There is coral on the inside of the reef and would be perfect swimming along with a spear gun, I wouldn't swim to close to the entrance of the bay as the current can be quite strong if the swells up.

Or bottle bay if you wanted to stay around denham.

You can stay over on the south side of Dirk Hartog, facing Shelter Bay.  Similar deal.

However, as you can imagine, it doesn't offer the same protection from the prevailing winds.

for ningaloo , we took our 6.7 barcrusher up, just let your tyres down n take it easy on the track in. I launched and moored it at Billie point no problem at all.
