Ammo jetty madness (with drone shots)
Submitted by tailor marc on Tue, 2016-05-03 21:00
Well dusted off the rods and braved the crowds down the ammo jetty. Walked onto the jetty and after a few casts i decided to fish the beach. Way to packed for my liking.
As i walked the beach i seen just about everyone with salmon so i knew i made a good decision. I ended ip landing 4 and a released

Those drone shots are pretty killer
looks as though there were plenty of the usual arse clowns down the ammo jetty also, man I hate that place but it does always produce at least some sort of fish. I'll have to get some info of the drone and camera setup you run as I am looking to do something similar with my fishing adventures in the near future.

Great photos as usual Mark
I like the Arial shots of the jetty, have you seen the utube clip of the guy who gets the drone to take his bait out and drop it right on the school of tuna.
I can see this becoming the preferred fishing method for those chasing sharks of the beach, once they qualify for instrumentation night flying.

The are too many in the bed and the little one sa-----
Yeah , with Perths population now , and increases in the future , we need to start putting the very limited pressure we have on pollys , rec fish , etc
to start repairing , /replacing , and planning new jettys and platforms around WA.
Its ok putting artificials offshore , but shore based must a have share too.
The new jettys would be concrete based off course , less maint, and if you had one in each metro suburb , in areas were they traditionly were
you would be in for less off a hiding from the greens and public.
Places like , extend north beach jetty, replace the old one at the Kwinana wreck / boat ramp site, extend the coogee jetty, ( not ammo) etc etc
you get the idea.
And off course the biggest issue for fisheries in the shore based group is education and then some more education , and then throw the bloody book at them.
As fisher people in WA I think our biggest threat is from within , A-- holes getting booked for hundreds of undersize crabs , rec based di--wits selling bags of crays
to fund trips , and yes new or different culture Australians treating good runs of jetty fish as a kill zone , the public sees this and brands us all.
On a lighter note your photos are always epic marc , do you still sell prints etc, got a new place in Munster , and its got a beachy theme happening , so
may need a picture or two, thanks.

This could incite a Riot however

I'm not disagreeing with you. . But much of the funding for the facilities for the Artificial Reefs and improved boat launching facilities has been raised thru the RBFL that boaties pay annually. Trout fishermen pay a license to see the waters stocked. I believe it's the right of all to be allowed to fish this country but collectively politicians we elect democratically will use the well worn phrase "User pays".. well currently the users are using but not paying. Perhaps until this changes we will see token efforts to placate shore based anglers.

See your point however
They dont charge bicycle riders for upkeep and construction of cycle paths in Perth, or
they dont take money off your rates if you never go to your local ovals, so its not a total user pays
system , ( wish it was sometimes but!)
I guess my point was , with increased usage , no good will come of crowding every shore based fisher
in Perth on a small handful of already heavy used jettys and platforms.
But I do personally think that someday they will have a blanket W.A fishing license, but at the moment
no one will touch it , as they see too many complaints coming from the once a year fishing family catching a herring or two
at xmas , having to stump up for licences.
cheers for your reply.

Good to see you back with your photographic prowess TM.
What sort of camera do you have on the drone. Resolution looks good from that height.
I noticed no blood n guts on the pier.
