anchor retrieving on 6m cat

I"ve got an older 6m cat and find it a pain anchoring. I attach a bouy  to the anchor rope and tie off at the front of the boat. when i want to move i have to get the ball away so as it does not go between the hulls, then i have to gaff the rope and tie it off to a special cleat i have on the rear starboard side. Once thats done its a matter of going around and pull the rope in before it can sinks again.

Pardon my ignorance but is there an easier way as a winch cannot be fitted, i have had 3 operation and i'll have another the way i'm going.

Hope someone can give an old dog a new trick.

i dont know of any other way to do it with a cat, single hull is easy as but unless your anchor is tied up to either side at the bough . unless you could try reversing up a bit till you see the float and then going forward on an angle to the rope until you can see are clear of it then straighten up as long as the rope is being pulled along the side and stays there you shouldnt have a prob

Try this

Try running a dropper knot down the rope. This will be trial and error to find the correct length. This knot needs to be down the rope far enough away so when at anchor the anchor rope is taking the full strain and not the dropper knot. Then tie a second rope to the dropper knot and back to the side of the boat. (No tension on this rope) When it’s time to retrieve your anchor drive along the rope pulling in the slack rope in as you chase it up. Only problem with this is that you always run out the full length of rope. You could run your ball on the deep side ot the rope if needed
