Another Black Hole
My brother built this one for his missus with only a very small help from me. He's caught the bug too and is already outdoing me.
Once he got past the foregrip winding check he decided on "less is better" even going to a relatively plain black underbind with a tiny amount of silver after the first Stripper guide.
I had my doubts but it has come up awesome and has given me ideas for future builds.
The red theme was originally intended for a Saltist Hyper speed but the Penn Torque that's on it fits great!! Also really like the Alps trigger seat although they are pretty pricy.
This was the rod that accounted for that 25lb Catty Erica caught the other night. Not the best fish to Christen a rod with in terms of quality but anyone who has caught one knows they go pretty hard.
By the way they are water droplets off the grass, not Epoxy runs!!

The simplicity of the colour
The simplicity of the colour scheme really stands out and makes it look good. For O/H you say? Personally would have gone with smaller guides, but it still looks good.

Good pick up Leemo.I
Good pick up Leemo.
I originally set it up with smaller guides but when tested my brother and his missus both have their thumb wrapping across the foregrip so the braid was touching it. It was kind of weird as they have used factory overheads before and this surely happened but they instinctly and subconsciously change their grip so they don't get a line cut. I offered to buy in a high frame stripper but Mick was happy to go with the size 40 MN frame instead. It actually came out good and I guess that's why they call them custom!!

A lot!!The guides are Fuji's
A lot!!
The guides are Fuji's Titanium plated Stainless steel frames with SIC rings, really top of the range stuff. That first big guide is around $35 alone. The blank is not cheap either and postage to get it from overseas adds up too. That real seat was over 50 dollars alone.
It's worth it though considering the major cost is the time put in, you may as well get the best quality gear.

Where did you get the black
Where did you get the black hole blank from? Thinking of maybe building one of the cape cod 10ft blanks for spinning off the rocks.
People who haven't caught a big fish just don't get it
