Any trimmers / fabric gurus on here?

I have a trim question
the interior sides of my boat cabin is lined with a foam backed (~3mm) fabric (i assume the foam was glued to the fabric and then the fabric/foam glued to the hull.
The fabric is in good condition but is dark grey and i want to change to white marine vinyl which will lighten up the cabin a lot.
If i remove the existing fabric/foam it will leave a huge amount of glue/foam residue which will need removing before i can attempt to stick the vinyl back.

My question is - can is stick the marine vinyl directly to the existing fabric? - if so what should i use in terms of glues?

cheers!

Personally I would be going to the trouble and removing the fabric or you could end up with more pain down the track

at John's Marine Trimmers in Fremantle.  0419 784 647.  I have used them before and they have been excellent.  They do fabric lining for big boats.

thanks guys
getting trades at the moment is not easy, my diesel mech booked until Mid Nov (which means Dec as they are always running late!)

I had a look at it last night and think i am going to live with it - may be easier to install a few led lights to brighten it up!
