Is anybody having any success beach fishing?

I have been out a few times over the last week quite early as the conditons have been ideal with an early high tide, but i have had very little success, I had one bite yesterday morning and it not a very good take almost as if the fish was spooked, so i took a different aproach and lightend my rig and only had one bite again it was sensitive. I thought i had done all my research and the conditions looked in my favour to have a good fish.... olbiviously not! If anybody out theres knows what could be going wrong i would love to find out. Thanks Jord
