Anyone used one of these ?

Hi

Bought some of these "waterproof" connectors from an auto accesories store. The part number on the Narva packaging is 57522BL.

There are 2 components, the short one on the left which receives the female (short) connectors and the longer one on the right which receives the male connectors.

The short one has a red bit clipped on the front and the long bit has a red bit inserted in the body. From what I can see, it is impossible to insert the short into the long with the red bit in place, so I removed it and it seems to work OK. My question is does anyone know if they are both meant to be used ?

Cheers for any replies

Eric

You need to pull out the red part in the female connector and remove the outer red bit on the male connector before inserting the pins. Scottnofish is correct - The red parts align and retain the pins in the connector. They are inserted last after the pins.
