Assist hooks

Where are crew buying their assist hooks online and what are peoples goto's....

I'm getting sick of having lots of bits n bobs and want to start narrowing down gear to proven jigs/proven hooks etc....

Hoping to buy in semi bulk so i dont have to worry for a few years, good time to be tying rigs etc

Jig assist components

Wed, 2017-11-22 09:51

Not long ago I was looking to make up some inexpensive demersal jig assists.  I ended up buying 3/0 and 5/0 jig hooks (Proberos brand, at 35 cents ea) and they look OK.  Rather than kevlar assist cord I purchased 250lb braid (100m for $AU10.00).  60mm and 90mm skirts, (18 cents ea).  All purchased from Aliexpress.  May not be the same quality as the links in Frosty's post above but I don't use more than 5kg of drag on demersal outfits so I reckon they will be fit for purpose.
