Got to be carefull what you wish for. First crack at a day time sword and was hoping for a small one that would fit in the kill bag and 15min later had a mini sword on board. Going to wish for a big one next time so let this one go to become a sea monster.

Good stuff
Wouldn't be too many who could claim their first sword within 15 minutes of starting, regardless of size.

Caught and released off
Caught and released off ningallo. pretty lucky for a first go at it but our luck didnt last on the second drop we somehow got our gear hung up on a whale and lost the lot.

That would have been very
That would have been very impressive - A Sword on the first drop and a Whale on the second hahaha
Just came back from Exy and the Whales were everywhere and nearly hit one on the first day out!
Many years ago at Steep Point watched a bloke sending out his balloon rig and he managed to snag a passing whale. He looked at us onlookers and offered the rod to any takers before locking up the drag and hanging on.

well done during day time - if've only ever got em at night at the rowleys and ive spent hours trying probably miore than 15 hrs before i caught my 1st one
1 around metro as a bycatch at 0400 on 1st drop looking for puka
called it as shark, then virtually every other thing by everyone on board- massive surprise when it surfaced - was not much bigger than the 1 in photo
-released well
the whale would be a waste - japan aint buying during the covid restrictions ;p
