nar mate i had a local with me won plenty of tornments he said yellowfin i would take his work and nar they wrent fussy red nose white belly 1 got most fish in the end and every time the mak got near the boat it would take more line off me and the tuna i caught on a lighter rod and was wicked fun took bout 15 min it was themost fun i have ever had the river didnt produce anything well because of the floods i think and cheersto every1 that gavemeadvise before i leftmuch appreciated
Them tuna and spaniards were busting up everywhere at wagoe over Easter too ay. We caught a few from shore. We too thought it was a yellowfin at first but I'd definitely say longtail tuna. How far out from kalbarri did you find them?
Yellow on a tunas fins doesn't really mean much. Nearly all can. YFT's have more pronounced fins and yellow on the body. More reliable using other methods.

put the money on longtail, got that same combo today up in Hedland, the little finlets are usually yellow

Believe it to be a Longtail Tuna, but as dannyboss has said, who gives, both fight well and both are good eating
