Ballooning What have i done

Catching that mackie in perth, Ballooning will be bigger than sail boarding

Think about all the mess when there is  50  or more balloons in a beach like mullaloo to o reef lol

If you guys are thinking about ballooning find a place away from boat ramps Left of trigg is good But we had surf ski-- swimmer--- surf boarders--- Catching our lines  [Note our hooks are miles out]

Good onya!

Thu, 2012-03-08 14:40

I used to do it from North Mole probably 5-10 years ago, but it was nigh on impossible with boats constantly running through lines, i even had the police come down and give me a stern talking to after someone got upset.

Is it really a sensible metro option? I mean really? Especially hi boat traffic areas, making it more popular will likely spell the end of it. Only my opinion, no offense Sherbs!

ballooning

Thu, 2012-03-08 16:40

i have on occasion balooned in the metro for about 15 years with no issues, but i don"t even think about putting one out in areas of "any" boat traffic let alone "high" boat traffic, it really comes down to common sense, i dont see the problem with balooning off any beach north of hillarys  but i guess it depends how far out you are letting your baloons, but really it comes down to common sense , if there are boats,or jetski's or swimmers in the area its probably not a good idea to let a baloon out more than 100m.  cheers

Lol take that over the doughnuts I'm catching at the moment!

But seriously is it beause:
A) some balloon-able species not as prevalent at night, hence more chance of a shark
B) the species are still out there AND more sharks at night, hence more chance of a shark

rotto!!! dreaming 2nd

Thu, 2012-03-08 19:18

went for a balloon bash at rotto for 2 weeks about 1 month ago and we only ever got sharks or if we did get something good it wasnt long before we got sharked, from wat i saw on that trip i swore to myself im never surfing rotto again, its out of control! and if you want sharks then its a bit off a waste of money and one hell of an effort for transport (you forgot about getting everything down to where you fish, big cliffs along most of the west end) all for a few sharks! but in sayin that you gotta be in it to win it! maybe i just had a bad trip but i tried everything in the book! best bet is jurien or somewhere north of metro if the wind persists! good luck.ps nice mackie you lucky dawg... :)

silly

Tue, 2012-03-13 14:13

would be pretty silly to put a balloon out any more than 250 offshore. boats arent supposed to come within that range and having a heavy line out where boat traffic is quite dangerous, you could easily snap propellers or have it taken up inside. there are plenty of fish in close atm so half a kilometer really isnt necessary, neither is helium unless you have shark problems or dead baits. i definately preffered it when everyone thought perth was void of fish. saw a guy the other day with a new out of the box senator ballooning a bait out about 150m past the entry marker, i think he was trying to hook the ferry.

on another note: to the bastard ballooners leaving their scum mullet boxes, popped balloons, line and beer bottles at nth mole; i hope you fall off the rocks and float to south africa you wankers. not to mention you piss poor filleting skills leaving half your catch behind. pretty sure it was a pommy bloke in a white patrol. anyone know him? slap him if so.
