Bass Groper and Hapuku
Submitted by Glenn Moore on Thu, 2020-07-16 09:38
Hi guys,
I'm wanting to find out the northern-most captures of Bass Groper and Hapuku in WA. I know they both get as far as metro, but would like to hear from anyone who has caught one (a photo to confirm ID would be great) from any further north than metro. I don't want your spot, but "off Jurien" for example is all I need. PM or email me if you prefer
In case you aren't sure how to tell them apart, this post has both Bass Groper (top; all over steel grey) and Hapuku (bottom; dark above and pale below) - http://fishwrecked.com/forum/bass-puka-last-week.
Thanks,
Glenn

Glenn, I'm not sure if the
Glenn, I'm not sure if the Serpent data collection project is still operational. It was good project where by ROV's operating from offshore deep water drilling rigs would submit subsea video footage of marine life attracted to the BOP's & well head. Some of the stuff these operators see is amazing, I've seen the seabed in approx 2000' covered in crayfish, huge ocky's warped around riser taking warmth from drilling fluids. Suggest you give Oceaneering a call and they may have some available footage archived.
