Beach casting outfit

I'm thinking about getting myself an overhead outfit for casting off the beach and have been looking at a Daiwa Millionaire 7ht Mag and a Daiwa sensor surf oh 11'4".

Does anyone own/have any experience with either of these or maybe any other recommendations? I'm not great with overheads but it's something I'd like to get into more and the millionaire is supposed to be quite easy to cast. Any advice is appreciated.

I too am looking at getting into overhead beach fishing, from the research I have done the sensor surf is the way to go however personally I would be looking into an overhead reel with bigger line capacity for helium balooning.

giday guys, the toriums are great reels as well as the trinidads in the shimano range, as for rods take a look at the assasin range! good strong rods , go see steve (sherbs) at cast away tackle the old tackle shack in malaga, top bloke with plenty of knowledge. the more your practise casting them the easyer it gets like with anything really, take a few trips down to the local park and give it a go, be sure to bring a bottle of water with you too wet the line or u can kiss good bye meters and meters of line! also advise too run a mono top shot

good luck

But sort off on the same line. Apart from the obvious line capacity, what advantages are there to overhead versus a quality Eggbeater. Currently have a Stella 8000SW on my big beach rod and find that almost overkill. Previously used Saragosas. I have apart from baitcasters and trolling never used overheads from the shore/rocks.

From what I read distance is main difference. Happy to be corrected though.

sensor surf 11ft OH

Hi Gav, I have that sensor surf OH rod with a Saltiga LD40 overhead reel for beach/rock fishing. It casts well and you can take out or add the casting brakes(supplied) to fine tune it.
The rod has heaps of power too

The shimano calcuttas are great casters too for beach work too, pimped with a carbontex drag.I am currently running a 200,400,700b atm depending what I am doing.Hard to argue with the price of the sensor surfs too, good value for sure.goodluck, cheers
