Beach fishing line

Recently got a stradic 5000 and got told buy the guy who sold me the reel that mono is the best for surf fishing. So I got 25lb extreme line for it. But I have never used braid for surf fishing at all. So what would you use? Mono or braid?
also when putting out a mulie to drift in a reefy area, I sometimes don't know if I have a fish on the line or if I'm snagged. With the mono sometimes I walk back 20 metres and it doesn't snag and I think I must be pulling a fish that is a dead weight in. Does this happen as much with braid?

Once you use braid, you'll never use mono again, can cast way further and you feel everything, you'll know if you've got a snag.

Braid mainly for me, but it
Braid mainly for me, but it can be a real pain if theres any weed in the water. This is where mono is superior IMO.
Also when a decent fish is hooked and being fought a fair way out I personally hate the stretch and unsensitivity of mono, especially when pesky rays are hooked and need to be winched in.

agree with everything said i
agree with everything said i used mono only for years but switched to braid and found it fantasic the extra casting distance and the fact that the wind doesnt drage a huge bow into your line because its a lot thinner, having said that if there is a lot of weed around braid can get into some bad tangles, best to use a wind on leader if your using braid, usualy the length of the rod plus about 3 turns on your reel
