BELATED WED. REPORT

Went out from Rockingham with my nephew on Wed. We were headed to a ledge that I pinged on the way back last Fri to see what it was holding!! On arrival the ground looked great with a ton of ground colour at 56m then dropping straight off to 60+!!! Several drifts latter and nothing to show for it so off to a known spot we went !!!!

On the second drift Shaun hooked up and it didn't seem to be that big. He was winding it up slowly until about 15m off the bottom it realised it was hooked and started to give him a little more fight!!! When the fish hit the surface he was over the moon!!!!!

His first Bauldy

A medium BB and a couple of Sgt Bakers were all that we got over the next couple of hours! Then I got a hit and it ran like a train only to break loose from the hook!!!!!! As I was pulling up I was still getting a kick or two. It was a Red Snapper of about 40cm. Spewing at the loss of the bigger fish Shaun was telling me it wouldn't bite again!!!! But 2 drifts latter in the same spot and bang it was on again!!!! It certainly had me huffing and puffing before it hit the surface about 30m away from the boat(geez they look twice as big further out). WOOOOOHOOOOO I was screaming the whole time I was dragging it toward the boat(and for the rest of the day)!!!!

BOAT RECORD AND PB 13.9kg !!!! (widened the gap seeing as Till got so close last week)!!!!!!!

Heading home every now and then a WOOOOHOOOO would just burst out of my mouth!!!!!!!

Cracker of a baldy and big

Fri, 2008-10-24 09:36

Cracker of a baldy and big congrats on the PB dhuie.  Just a little tip for when you crack the PB next time.  Hold the Dhu underneath instead of the mouth so you don't get the big red flare of the gills.  Makes for a much better quality pic.

Cheers Pete
