bent street boat ramp

the Rockingham council have received funding to dredge a channel out from the bent street ramp but seems they are dragging their feet on this , I just hope the money doesn't go else where (junkets over seas to look at boat ramps) , I will be running for council at the next elections I want that dredging to happen and hope fishwrecked member's in the council area will vote for me

 Usually pretty stringent

Usually pretty stringent criteria when grants are given. But nothing wrong with firing a shot accross their bow.

the information i have,  sea bed core drilling was conducted to determine where the most suitable area was to dredge where the least amount of problems would be encountered in the way of limestone being hit. I am also to believe this information has been collaborated, and it is now more about timing with weather and tides than dragging feet.

Love your passion regarding Rockingham mate, but as a community member of rockingham for 30 years, and involved in the pro and rec fishing community, there is much larger groups that determine what the priorities are in this great city

Get on to them.

If you run I'd like you to have long point developemnt and western end access provided as promised 15 years ago. Additionally security cameras need to be somewhere else other than front area business, would be good to have vid cameras at Point Perron and Port Kennedy.

been done before

a few years ago, just a waste of money it will silt up again you can be sure of that. Turn island which is now not an island used to have a channel between the mainland and the island wide enough and deep enough to allow cray boats through, Not anymore! it also used to go a lot further out than it does now but has receded round towards the ramp now the ramp is only good for small boats (i havent launched there for years) the best option is on the other side of the yacht club

basically a beach launch (although there is concrete underneath I believe) it would be better they move the ramp! and if council are anything to go by it wont happen they havent done a thing about the cleats at point perron ramp damaging boats with a flared bow.

cleats at p/p

Tue, 2013-06-25 21:07

your dead right about that they need to move the cleats back 6 inches at p/p but until we have a voice on council it wont happen the bent street ramp is a disgrace council put in a million dollar public shitter there that plays music when you are in it but forgot why the public are there in the first place

There's a few inherent design

Wed, 2013-06-26 09:15

There's a few inherent design issues with that point peron boat ramp. From what i've noticed, its the following:
1. Cleats too close to edge for flared bows
2. Pillars too close to edge on west side, so that you can't get around them when guiding your boat .
3. Floats too high for smaller vessels, where they can get caught under the edge.
But don't get me wrong, it is a great ramp facility if not the best around. Just some minor oversights which could easily be rectified.

Really hope they sort out a ramp at safety bay area, as Little John said any swell at PK, and its impossible to launch or retrieve. Not to mention to countless fights you can expect with jetty fishers that think they have the right to fish there over your boat launch, when its a boating jetty. How many times i've seen arguements/fights down there, and the damaged vessels trying to retrieve in a swell after chasing snapper in the sound. This only leaves no reliable boat launching facilities around warnbro sound unless you wish to beach launch just north or Turn Is. as mentioned before.

You have my vote Pete
