Best comfortable inflateable life jacket
Submitted by andym on Mon, 2016-06-20 09:41
G'day All ,
Looking for recommendations for a comfortable wearable life jacket to be worn all the time on the water , as I fish solo a fair bit and seeing recent incidences at sea ,think it might be best to invest in one in case the unthinkable happens .
Any recommendations fellas ?
Cheers Andy

Stormy
Stormy lifejackets. We have five of them on the boat. Lots of options - regular jacket, all-weather jacket with inflation built-in, self-inflating, strobes etc.

With my Recfishwest renewal,
With my Recfishwest renewal, there was a promo code to get crewsaver lifejackets for a reduced price. Unsure if you are a recfish west member but if you are and need to renew, be aware that it may be coming. It is a crewsaver one too.

I've got a water snake life
I've got a water snake life jacket, I wear it while traveling and if solo I wear it all day, don't even notice it now. If you get in the habit of wearing one it becomes like a seat belt and you feel uncomfortable when it's not on if you know what I mean. $70 online.

Fluorescent colour on PFD
Good suggestion slugger, what I did because I have the dull grey type of PFD was to go to a sign writer/manufacturer and purchased an off cut of the bright fluoro reflective sheeting sticky back they use on outdoor warning signs etc. I can't remember how much I paid for it but I know that for a piece .3m wide and about .4m long it was dirt cheap (less than $10).
What I did was cut 2 strips 30cm X 7cm and stuck them (using the sticky backing of the stuff) 1 on each of the inflatable sections on the front of the PFD. It sticks like the proverbial s*** to a blanket.
If I'm in the water at night I want to give myself as much chance as possible of being seen. If you shine a torch on the stuff it really stands out.
I also stuck a strip on my cray pot floats and I can pick them up very easy in day light because of the shine that comes of it.
